Night Photo Around Seattle

Wohoo another sunny day today and quite clear sky. My friend, Supri, and I went to several places around Seattle – from beacon hill to pike place and to Alki. We planned to do some night photo shooting and grab those beautiful stretch lights. :)

and guess what happened? My tripod broke! Oh my gosh, I was so let down by it. Luckily, there was a way not to waste the night. includes putting my camera on the railing of a bridge while the strap is hanging around my neck :) i had to cheek the railing to peek into the viewfinder. At least I had fun. There were other photographers on this bridge and I was thinking that they might thought “what’s this guy doing?”. We met a guy who used a panaromic photo. It’s so cool 120 degrees viewed and multiple lenses and it uses not an ordinary film. We asked him how much it is and he said “It’s made from Russia and it costs about $200.00″ Not bad butI guess the film is expensive.

After that we went ahead to Pike Place market in downtown Seattle, to take the picture of the famous big sign “Public Market Center”, then went on ahead to the Elliot Bay and take the Seattle Alaskan Viaduct.

Our final stop was Alki and we took quite many pictures of Seattle from afar.

From this trip, I found out that tripod is very important, a slight wind can ruin your photo. Also I found out that during a night photo session, please use the AWB (Auto White Balance) and not any other settings.  I used range of shutter speed from 1/8 to 30″. It was amazing and I learned alot from this trip. I hope to go another round with a good tripod this time :)

On the way home back from church, I stopped by the Alki Beach and found a place where I can quietly take photos of the downtown Seattle. The sun was behind me. I set my camera to ‘Av’ with F3.5 – F5.0 and I took some shots and I was not much happy with the result of it. One: the noice is too much. So many of them. I don’t know what’s wrong with it but my guess will be either the sun shining down on the objects or the ‘Av’ mode that I had on. Two: hmm nothing I can think of hehe since I was blinded by the “noice” in the pictures. Maybe I should try to avoid the ‘Av’ mode and the sun shines next time. Below are some of the pictures that I think, at their best.

Ahh this was my very first photo shots when I got my first dSLR Canon Rebel XTi.

I was using the EFS 18-55mm lens (The standard lens the comes with the body). It worked great. I think I like the photos that I have taken for these.

I think it was around 9PM in the evening and the sky was very clear. I was at the sightseeing point in Queen Anne overlooking Downtown Seattle and Alki Beach. I took quite a number of photos and only two are made it to this post hehe.
